- Vessels built by July 1, 2004 or later
- Passenger ships, including high-speed, built before 1 July 2004 must be fitted to the first survey of the radio ship after 1 July 2004.
- Oil tankers, chemical tankers, gas carriers, bulk carriers and high-speed cargo vessels of more than 500 T, constructed before 1 July 2004 must be fitted with SSAS to the first survey of the radio ship after 1 July 2004.
- The rest of the cargo vessels of over 500 tons, and mobile offshore drilling units constructed before 1 July 2004 must be fitted with SSAS to the first survey of the radio ship after 1 July 2006.
- passenger ships, including high-speed;
- cargo ships, including high-speed craft, of 300 gross tonnage tons;
- mobile offshore drilling units.
